Wherever Ken goes his impact is quickly felt. An industry veteran in the digital advertising & technology arena holding C-level regional roles with Yahoo and Ogilvy & Mather in addition to serving as Chairman of Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and Chairman of Digital Advertising Alliance. Ken recently founded Jam Ventures a boutique accelerator that works with promising Asian start-ups in the media and technology space as well as larger US based organizations wanting to enter Asia Pacific. Previously at Yahoo! as Regional Vice President & Managing Director Ken opened four new markets for the Internet giant in less than two years. Before that Ken held regional leadership roles with WPP where he served as CEO of Neo@Ogilvy Asia Pacific, Vice President of OgilvyOne Asia Pacific and Regional CEO of XM Asia.
Beginning his career in consumer market research in Toronto Canada where winters were long and summers short, Ken packed his bags for Asia and joined the Bangkok office of Shandwick Public Relations in 1994. Since then he has held C-level management positions across the Asia Pacific region with Bates, 141 Worldwide, XM Asia, Ogilvy & Mather and Yahoo! Asia Pacific. Ken is currently Managing Director of Buddy Media Asia Pacific.
In 1999 Ken moved to Singapore from Cambodia and was appointed CEO & Regional Director of XM Asia Pacific (now part of J Walter Thomson, WPP Group). Over a 6 year period he built XM Asia Pacific into one of the regions leading digital agencies. In January of 2006, Ken joined Ogilvy Asia Pacific as the founding CEO of Neo@Ogilvy and Vice President of OgilvyOne covering 11 markets. While at Ogilvy, Ken built Neo@Ogivly into a regional force by growing the digital media network from scratch to over 200 staff in just 16 months. He also helped lead OgilvyOne to two consecutive Regional Agency of the Year titles and was the founder of the multi award winning Ogilvy Digital Innovation Lab responsible for break through mobile marketing innovations for American Express, Diageo and Nokia Mobile Phones.
Ken joined Yahoo! in January 2008 as Vice-President & Managing Director of SE Asia. He was tasked with establishing Yahoo! in SE Asia and opened four new markets in less than two years for the internet giant. In April 2010, Ken was appointed Regional Vice President of Advertising Sales and Marketplace for APAC responsible for monetization across Yahoo!s entire product line Display, Search, Ad Network, Mobile and the RightMedia Exchange. Ken left Yahoo! to create Jam Ventures a boutique accelerator and now runs Buddy Media in Asia.
Ken completed his Asia-Pacific Management Post-Baccalaureate Program at Capilano College, Vancouver, Canada and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Psychology from McGill University in Montreal.
Ken currently serves as the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Chairman and is a board member of the Mobile Marketing Association Asia Pacific after previously serving as the founding Vice Chairman. Ken is also a Board Council Member of Design Singapore under the Ministry of Information, Communications & the Arts (MICA) and was recently appointed Chairman of the Digital Advertising Alliance Singapore (DAA), an initiative of the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA).
